Why didn't RFID Tag read the distance?
RFID reading distance is the result of the system as a whole and is not a fixed parameter owned by the label.
The physical reading distance may be affected by the ability of the label to acquire sufficient energy and initiate, or by the ability of the label to return signal to be received by RFID Reader in a stable manner.
The distance given in the product information is usually based on a specific equipment, power, antenna and test environment, which helps compare the product, but cannot be directly equal to the effective distance at the project site.
The project really needs to focus on the stable identification areas that can be duplicated in the given direction, number and process, rather than occasionally reading the maximum threshold for success.
How does the label itself affect reading distance?
- Label size and antenna available area
- Label antenna design and its suitable frequency bands
- Chip sensitivity and protocol characteristics
- Different structures, such as general labels, anti-metal labels, etc.
- Status of labels on cardboard, plastic, metal or liquid containers
Large labels sometimes allow for larger antennas, but they cannot be directly readable by size. An antenna design, chip matching, encapsulation and installation object influence performance together. A good-functioning label on a box may not work properly when it is placed directly on the metal surface.
The type should therefore be tested on the real object rather than on the bulk purchase after the suspension test.
How does RFID Reader's power affect access?
In other cases, adjusting RFID Reader output power will change the energy from antenna launch and the range of labels activated. But power is only one of the system parameters, and power increase does not guarantee that all directions and positions will increase distance at the same rate.
The project should be powered within the limits of regulations and equipment, in combination with antennas, points and operational boundaries.
RFID Reader power is usually configured in units such as dBm, but there is also an engineering relationship between power, antenna gain and actual field strength, which can be followed by a separate exercise in RFID Reader power dBm? The greater the power, the greater the distance?
How does the RFID antenna affect the distance of reading?
An antenna determines how radial frequency energy covers space. Near-Earth antennas, apogee antennas and suitable areas of identification for different polarization methods are not the same and cannot be compared with value of value of gain.
- Antenna type determines whether it is more suitable for close control or larger area coverage
- Gains affect energy concentration and coverage characteristics.
- Install directional effects to match the orientation of the label antenna
- The location and number of antennas determine the identification of the regional boundary
- Perimeter metal structures, walls and equipment may cause reflection or cover-up
The warehouse entrance needs to cover the area of passage, and the smart cabinet needs to limit the identification to the inside of the cabinet, and even if the same frequency segment is used, the antenna design will be different.
Why do metal, liquid and installation locations affect access?
Metals alter the electromagnetic conditions and reflect in the vicinity of the label antenna, and the liquid absorbs or alters part of the RF energy. When labels are near these materials, the status of the original antenna may change, leading to a decrease in the reading range or a change in direction.
The solution may include selecting anti-metal labels, adding appropriate intervals, adjusting the location of the installation or redesigning the antenna cover. How to select and paste RFID Tag in different materials or environments?。
The location of the installation may also affect the shielding and human operations. For example, a label will be placed on the inside of the metal cabinet, on the back of a liquid container or in the middle of a stacking of goods, and even if the label type is correct, it may be difficult to create a stable reading path.
Why does the label orientation change the reading effect?
Both the label antenna and the RFID Reader antenna have directional and polarisation properties. When the label is rotated, tilted or covered by the article, the coupling status of the two changes, so that some orientations may be easy to read at the same distance and others less effective.
In real business, the item is often not always in the desired direction. The test should cover the state of front, side, rotation, stacking and handheld, and reduce the impact of the direction sensitivity by antenna position, labeling specifications or multi-sky layout.
Will multiple labels be effective if read at the same time?
Multiple label protocols can distinguish between multiple labels, but when the number of labels increases, more communication is required to complete a stable round. The labels are over-clare, too small space or surrounded by metals and liquids, and may make it difficult for some labels to get enough energy.
- Number of actual labels and read time requirements
- Spacing and Overlap Between Labels
- Direction of the organization of the commodity or box
- Whether the label is inside the goods or is concealed
- In situ reflection, adjacent antennas and other wireless environmental factors
The test cannot be done with a single label to confirm the maximum distance and extrapolate the performance of hundreds of labels. The reading integrity and operational rhythms should be validated using a sample close to the true number and sequencing.
How should the RFID project test the reading distance?
- Identification of candidate labels and corresponding bands
- Install the label to the planned location of the real item
- Identification of RFID Reader, antenna and base parameters
- From close to far-reaching, more than just a record of successful results.
- Redirecting labels and re-testing articles
- Number of actual or near-actual labels used
- The real scenes of simulator shelves, corridors, cabinets and personnel operations
- Recording of stable reading, missing location and non-target reading areas
- Endemic on the basis of stabilizing operational effectiveness rather than maximum limit distance
The test records should include equipment, solids, power, antenna position, label type, installation mode, condition of the item and sample number to ensure that subsequent deployments can reproduce the results.
Distance testing is only part of the on-site validation. Triggering, duplicate data, adjacent area serial reading, network disruption and business anomalies also require further examination in the RFID Project Field Test What Should be Tested?
FAQs
RFID Tag'S LEARNING OUT OF THE DRIVING?
Size does not necessarily affect the design space for label antennas, but chips, antenna matching, frequency bands, encapsulation and installation materials affect physical distance and require real-life testing.
Isn't the RFID Reader the better?
No. Increases in power may expand the reading area, or read non-target labels or increase reflective interference.
Can RFID read through the wall?
The project should not use the wall as a default guarantee.
Does metal affect RFID reading?
The metal may change the working state of the label antenna and generate a reflection, which usually requires a metallic label, a reasonable interval or a targeted installation and antenna design.
Why is the same label different from the distance read in different projects?
Because RFID Reader, antenna, power, installation of materials, label orientation, quantity, shielding and on-site reflection conditions differ, reading distance is the result of a system-wide co-operation.
