What's RFID Reader power dBm?
dBm is a power unit of 1 mW, which is usually used by RFID to express radio frequency output power. It expresses power size in a logarithmic manner, which allows equipment configuration and engineering comparison; this paper only describes the meaning of the selected type and does not allow for a radio frequency calculation formula.
dBm in the device interface usually corresponds to the output setting of an antenna port. The RF energy actually reaching the label is also subject to feedback loss, connection, antenna gain, installation direction and dissemination of environmental effects, and the interface values cannot be used as the power received directly as a label.
There are corresponding requirements for working bands and permitted radiopower in different regions, and equipment versions, antennas and parameter settings need to be in accordance with the law of the location of the project and the conditions for certification.
What does power have to do with RFID reading distance?
In other cases where the same conditions exist, increased output power within the compliance range may allow more radio-frequency energy to reach the label, help the passive label to acquire sufficient energy and activate, or expand the effective area where RFID Reader receives the label to return the signal.
The total impact factors can be found in the tablets and chips, RFID Reader antenna, polarization direction, installation of materials, metal liquid environment, and label quantities. How far does RFID Tag usually read? What factors influence it?。
Why is the power more powerful than the better?
- Read labels outside the target area to add the read risk
- Radio frequency coverage extends the boundary, and access, cabinet or position is more difficult to control
- Metal structure and wall reflections may create new non-target reading areas
- More easily interact with each other at multiple nearby reading points
The project is not aimed at maximizing distance, but at stable identification in the target area, while keeping the non-target labels as low as possible. Why does the RFID read? How do we control the reading area?Check.
How do you adjust power in the RFID project?
- Set safe initial power in accordance with equipment, antennas and regulations
- Field testing using real labels, articles and placements
- Simultaneously observe the target area for completeness and non-target area reading
- Only limited parameters are adjusted at each time and power, antenna and test conditions are recorded
- Re-test and confirm that the area of operations can be stabilized.
If you are not covered enough, the label position and antenna layout should be checked at the same time, and the power should not be increased only continuously. How do you choose the RFID antenna? What's the difference between RFID and RFID?。
What scenarios need to focus on power settings?
| scene | Power set priorities |
|---|---|
| Security gates and portal readers | Cover the pass-through area, avoiding reading static labels inside and outside the door |
| Smart cabinet | Control the radio frequency energy inside the cabinet, and combine the shelf and the corner. |
| Warehouse entrance and exit | Matching direction, speed and proximity to cargo position |
| Fixed | Only identify the target and avoid a read-in-a-space |
These scenarios need to be debugged with antenna position, trigger and software rules, and cannot replicate a single parameter from other sites.
FAQs
The more RFID power is, the further away it is read?
The increase in power does not guarantee that each party will be far from the same scale.
Can RFID power be adjusted at will?
No. It should be adjusted to the extent permitted by the legislation on equipment capacity and the location of the project, as well as by the certification, and should be confirmed in the light of antennas, feedback and actual radiation conditions.
Has it been more powerful than the General Assembly to produce a serial reading?
Potential. Excessive power increases radio frequency coverage and may be used to read off-of-target labels by reflecting, requiring control in combination with antennas and software rules.
What difference does it make between a handheld and a fixed RFID Reader power?
The antenna structure, mode of use, configurable scope and authentication conditions may differ for two types of equipment. The handheld emphasizes mobile operations, and RFID Reader is usually designed to fit the external antenna, and cannot be compared to dBm values.
